I saw my great niece the other day. She is soooo cute. She has these beautiful blue eyes. The most adorable smile, she kicks her feet and waves her arms and looks around like she understands everything that's going on around her. She turns her little head when someone is talking like she is intently involved in the conversation. She is starting to put her hands out when someone goes to pick her up. She loves being outdoors. Her hair is growing out a little so it's starting to get just a bit more manageable. Her nana (my sister) says she tries to curl it which helps keep it under control. She get's passed around a lot from one relative to the other. Everyone wanting their turn holding her.
It's funny though because with all of that passing around she suddenly starts to get a little cranky. No more smiling, her face starts to crinkle up and she begins to make these annoying noises. Softly at first as someone takes her thinking they can calm her down and make her happy again. Only that doesn't work so another takes her, bouncing her up and down trying to get her attention off of whatever has her so upset. Finally when that doesn't work her mother is tracked down and the baby is handed over. Everyone suddenly disapears and her mom is left standing in the middle of the room holding her screaming thrashing baby wondering what happened?
30 minutes ago she walked in with a smiling happy baby in her hands. People were rushing towards her to be the first to take the baby.. Now she is left alone her precious loved one visibly and audibly upset. She walks over to the chair and sits down, pulls her baby close to her and whispers in her ear "mommy's here little one" "it's ok" "mommy's here". An amazing thing happens all of a sudden, the baby starts to settle down. Her screams eventually become whimpers as her mother continues to talk to her gently caressing her cheek. Her body relaxes at the sound of her mother's voice and before you know it she is sound asleep comfortably at peace in her mother's arms.
Once again, everyone starts to come around.......
