Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (May 25 in 2009). Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War (it is celebrated near the day of reunification after the civil war), it was expanded after World War I to include American casualties of any war or military action (Wikipedia)
This Memorial Day lets remember those men and women who are and who have fought for our freedom, our military personale and those who have served in other branches of law enforcement in order to keep and protect the citizens of the United States of America safe.
Thank you to our American Hero's!
I am reminded on Memorial Day of another person whose death and life should be commerated also. He was and is the Higest ranking official who has ever walked the face of this earth. He fought and continues to fight for every human being alive. Sometimes under the most horrific conditions known to man.
You see, this person fights for you and I every day. We may not see Him, we may not even know He's there. But He is. He is in a constant spiritual battle against the evil one for our soul.
Ephesians 6:12
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Psalm 140:7 (New International Version)
O Sovereign LORD, my strong deliverer,
who shields my head in the day of battle-
Exodus 14:14
The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still."
Deuteronomy 20:4
For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory."
Psalm 27:1-3 (New International Version)
1 The LORD is my light and my salvation—
whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When evil men advance against me
to devour my flesh, [a]
when my enemies and my foes attack me,
they will stumble and fall.
3 Though an army besiege me,
my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me,
even then will I be confident
On this Memorial Day I want to thank the Lord for standing in my place and doing battle against the evil one. Not only did He die doing battle for the human race but He rose again and continues to do battle on our behalf.
Thank you Jesus!
